A GENERALLY SUB-PAR WEEK FOR USPS
Maybe it was the crush of election mail – and yes, there are elections in odd-numbered years, and they generate a LOT of mail. Overall delivery performance was weak for First-Class Mail, with more than 9% of it four or more days late, for both flats and letters. Marketing Mail performance was consistent with YTD averages in terms of on-time delivery, but those pieces that were late were more late than usual.
There were no precipitous declines in any class, and poor performance was more distributed across the country. This is the time of year when delays can become more serious – keep a close eye on your own mail delivery times.
