US MAIL TRAFFIC REPORT AUGUST 18, 2025
August 19, 2025   Dave Lewis

AS AVERAGE (FOR 2025) AS A WEEK CAN GET

Last week’s mail performance was nearly identical to the YTD averages for 2025. Performance overall dropped after the July 13 rate change and regulation changes, and since then delivery performance has generally been worse than it was before the change.

Once again, mail entered in the Central Area – generally the Midwest – had the poorest performance for First-Class letters. We expect mail volume to begin increasing soon as the fall mailing season begins, typically slowing down performance. It’s a time when mailers should be keeping a close eye on delivery performance and adjust accordingly when possible.
