US MAIL TRAFFIC REPORT APRIL 28, 2025
April 28, 2025   Dave Lewis

THE NEW NORMAL PREVAILS.  YOU WANT 80% ON TIME?  YOU GOT IT.

It was about as average a week as you can ask for.  First-Class letters were delivered on time 81.7% of the time.  Even First-Class flats were on time 80.6% of the time (do not get used to this).  Marketing Mail letters and flats both beat their YTD averages by a bit.  Average delivery days were better across the board.

We did have a couple of flare-ups across the system.  Richmond VA residents (remember Richmond?) were waiting over seven days for their First-Class letters, on average.  First-Class letters originating out of Palatine, IL, were taking 9.24 days to deliver, on average.

You may be wondering if the “milk runs” effect is making delivery days look faster.  That is generally not the kind of mail we are measuring, so it should not have had an impact.  Still, the Postal Service has created new critical entry times, so we’ll need to keep a watch on it.
