US MAIL TRAFFIC REPORT SEPTEMBER 16, 2024

SUMMER’S OVER.  SERVICE PERFORMANCE TAKES A DIP

Remember I told you that you could smile last week?  Well, wipe that smile off your face – it’s peak season and performance took a dip across all the mail categories we measure.  Nothing dramatic outside of First-Class flats (which we always take with a grain of salt,) but small drops in on-time percentages and an increase in transit days has our eyes wide open.  Volume is definitely up among our customers, and we have yet to see much political mail.

No particular trouble spots stand out.  Interestingly, Staten Island, NY, and Middlesex-Essex, MA performed worse than most spots along the Gulf Coast, so we are not seeing a major hurricane impact.
