US MAIL TRAFFIC REPORT JULY 8, 2024

LAZY HAZY DAYS OF SUMMER

July begins pretty much as June ended.  First-Class letters were on time 87.6% of the time, which is what they have been running lately, which is better than the YTD, and typical for this summer so far.  First-Class Flats were even worse than they look, with well over 50% more than five days late.  I’ll add the usual proviso that the FC flats sample was small, but they seem to be relentlessly bad.

Marketing Mail held steady at a good point.  My favorite Marketing Mail stat, Intra-SCF days was quite low, and low is good on that score.  This would tend to indicate that operations are running well within most facilities, which translates to good last-mile performance.

No facilities really stood out with performance issues.
