Informed Delivery Enhancements – What’s Your Default?
April 24, 2023   Dave Lewis

The Postal Service just keeps making Informed Delivery better!  Now they have added sharing and reminder features – just make sure you are getting the features you want.

Here’s what I found in my ID digest today:

There are a lot of options at the bottom.  I can set a reminder, so I can have the ad resent to me on another day.  I can share the offer via email, text, Facebook, or Twitter.  Or I can click on the ride-along, of course, and go to the web site in the ride-along.

But what if you don’t want to share your offer?  A lot of mailers don’t.  Fundraisers may have specific ask strings based on donation history.  They may not want a small donor sharing their donation page with a bigger donor.  Or, maybe you’re testing different offers or versions – you may not want your test distorted by offer sharing.  Fortunately, you don’t have to share.  We won’t judge.

When creating an ID campaign, you have the option of opting out of the sharing feature.  So, do be aware that the default is to have sharing on.  If you don’t want to share, you need to opt out.  When we create campaigns at SnailWorks we will leave the sharing on unless the customer asks to opt out of sharing.  The Postal Service default is to share, and so is SnailWorks’.  If you do not want to share, please be sure to tell us!  We will not tell your mom.

By the way, if you do share, you are sharing just the link in the ride-along – not the representative image.  So in the example shown, if the consumer decides to share, they are just sharing the TruGreen link, not the Valpak image.

So, while sharing is caring, make sure you really want to share – and to let us know.
