PERFORMANCE SHOWS SOME IMPROVEMENT BUT REMAINS WORSE THAN LAST YEAR
Mail service performance rose a bit from the depths we saw last week, but remains well below average. First-Class letters were delivered on time 88.6% of the time, down from 90.3% last week, but First-Class flats did recover from a dismal week last week with 72.7% delivered on time. More than 5% were over 5 days late.
Marketing Mail remained consistent with 97.3% of letters, and 91.8% of flats delivered on time. That is about the same as last year for letters, and somewhat worse for flats.
We have seen continued inconsistency for the first months of 2023. Hopefully better weather ahead will help improve performance, or at least remove that variable from analysis.
