SERVICE LITTLE IMPROVED OVER PRIOR WEEK
Mail delivery service continued to underperform, although a touch better than the week before. Still, only about 88% of First-Class letters were delivered on time, and only 75% of First-Class flats. Better than the week before, true, but still very weak.
In the WestPac area, only 19.2% of First-Class flats were delivered on time – one of the worst numbers we have seen. Traditionally, WestPac has been one of the best performing areas. We are not sure of the reason. Letters don’t reflect the same performance issues. It could be a statistical anomaly.
Last year we saw a similar pattern of poor performance in late winter/early spring.
Numbers this low generally indicate inconsistency in the system. It is particularly important to be tracking your own mail in times like this.
