WEEKLY US MAIL TRAFFIC REPORT – May 23, 2022
May 23, 2022   Dave Lewis

A LITTLE UP, A LITTLE DOWN, MOSTLY JUST FLOATING AROUND THE TOP

All in all, it was an unexciting week in delivery land.  Letters did fine, and flats were down a touch, but nothing about which to be concerned.  No trends that we can identify, just kind of Brownian motion for you molecular physics fans out there.

For the week beginning May 16, 2022, First-Class letters were delivered on time 93.15% a skosh lower than the week before.   First-Class flats were delivered on time 91.99% of the time, which is on the lower side of great, but still good.

Marketing Mail Letters came off their rough week with 96.59% of letters delivered on time, a solid performance.  Marketing Mail Flats were delivered on time 92.23% of the time, a soft week after several excellent weeks in a row.  We’re watching it closely…because that’s what we do.

Average Intra-SCF delivery time was 2.09 days for Marketing Mail letters, 2.58 days for Marketing Mail flats.

The drop in flats performance is a little troubling, not a big deal if it isn’t part of a trend.

In the meantime, keep mailing stuff, OK?  We’ll keep tracking

MAP OF THE WEEK

This map shows the average number of days late for flats by state, for pieces inducted in Hartford, CT.  Much darker colors than usual.
