We Can Turn on a Dime, but Please Be on Time!

One of the big challenges of the upcoming Informed Delivery promotion is going to be timing.  We’ll need to get every campaign approved by USPS BEFORE it mails, and this will take time.  The Postal Service says it “typically” takes four business days, but since they’ve never done this before, we think users should be prepared for longer.  Annnnd, it is within the realm of possibility (the only realm we’ve got to work with) that your campaign won’t get approved first time around – maybe your call to action is too small, maybe your Representative Image needs a border – so you may need to resubmit it.  Then it could be another four typical days.  Let’s hope not, but still let’s hope for the best but plan for the worst.   So we are urging our clients who want to participate in the promotion, please build about two weeks into your schedule for ID approval.  You can still be in production on your mailing, just get those ID ads in early. Even if you don’t care about the 2% discount,  we strongly suggest you allowing a little time with those campaigns, too.  We’ve had many clients send us their Informed Delivery assets the morning of the mailing – sometimes the morning after the mailing.  We’re fast and accommodating, but the USPS requires that all campaigns be submitted and finalized in their system by noon ET the day PRIOR to the campaign being live for sending notifications. With ID volume growing and a big promotion around the corner, you should build in a little time.  We’ll do what we can to get your campaign up lickety-split, but we’d hate for any of your prospects not to see your ads – and that’s the risk of a late campaign, discounts aside. So don’t go anywhere without your ID – plan ahead!
