A REALLY GOOD WEEK…WITH AN ASTERISK.
Last week showed the best service performance from USPS we’ve seen in years. There is one anomaly worth noting, which is a Friday holiday. We only count postal days, not holidays and Sundays. So the mail that was delivered on Saturday, which should have been delivered Friday, was on time. It’s America’s little 250th birthday gift to the Postal Service. This is generally a good week for USPS because of the holiday and traditionally light volume. Still, this week this year outperformed the same week in the last two years, so it fits into the improving trend we’ve been watching.
There’s still a long way to go to reach the 95% on-time goals for First-Class Mail, but service does seem to be on an improving trend.
