USPS SERVICE PERFORMANCE STAYS SOLID – PERFORMS ABOVE YTD AVERAGES
USPS service performance again remained largely unchanged from the prior week. From what we are seeing, volume of political mail is very high and the Postal Service is not showing any strain in managing it. In the past few years we have seen a marked slowdown as we progressed through October, so it is not insignificant to see performance hold steady this year. With the exception of Marketing Mail letters, all categories of mail are performing above YTD averages, no small feat three weeks ahead of an election. Marketing Mail letters didn’t do all that badly, just a touch below YTD.
In looking specifically at election “swing states,” most were better than 90% on time, with the exceptions of Georgia (87.0%), Nevada (85.5%), and a worrisome Wisconsin (55.0%).
