Educating the World on Informed This and Informed That…
October 24, 2019   Dave Lewis

We spend a lot of our time and energy on the simple task of teaching folks about the “Informed” services at USPS:  Informed Delivery® and Informed Visibility®.  We have spoken at no less than 50 events, held webinars, written white papers, hosted a users’ conference…whew, I get tired just thinking about it.  And of course, our mission is not fully accomplished.  These programs continue to grow and evolve, and our industry continues to find new ways to leverage their capabilities. Here are a few observations on what we have seen and learned in our travels:
  • No one really understands this stuff. No one.  Even the Postal Service.  The most common reaction we get is “I had no idea I could_________!”  You can fill in the blank;
  • Postal Service people need education in these services as much as industry does. Arguably, more;
  • Using these services is much more complicated than people think but…;
  • These services are much more valuable than most people understand – until they get some splainin’.
And so we go on with our education – and here’s some good news:  If you want to hold a seminar or webinar for your customers, sponsored by you, we can do that for you!  It doesn’t cost a thing.  We’re trying to educate people, because when they understand the value of these services, they will use them.  We have three primary presentations we do:
  • Creating a Winning Informed Delivery Campaign;
  • It IS Safe to Assume: Understanding Informed Visibility;
  • Mail Meets the Web: Keeping Direct Mail Relevant in an Online World.
If you need another related topic we can do that, too.  You can see Dave Lewis' speaker bio along with a list of possible topics. Educating your clients is a value proposition that works for everybody:  your clients get new tools to enhance their direct mail efforts, you get new services to sell to your clients, and the Postal Service gets the industry using their new services.  It’s a beautiful thing.
