Why Don’t Your Customers Have Printing Presses and Inserters?

Did you ever stuff an envelope?  It’s really not very hard – you fold whatever you’re inserting so it fits in the envelope, stuff it in, lick the flap, and seal it. Did you ever stuff 100 envelopes?  Or 1,000?  Or 100,000?  Your tongue is going to get all dried out.  You kinda need a mail house. We look at our Direct2Digital® ID service the same way.  It is not hard to create an Informed Delivery® campaign…exactly.  You can do this:
  • Log into the USPS Business Customer Gateway (Ewww…already not liking this)
  • Provide your name, a campaign name – hey, that was easy!
  • Select a date range…um, ok, not sure but we’ll try this…
  • Provide the IMb serial number range (“Come on production – I NEED those numbers!”)
  • Select what kind of ads/images you want to run
  • Provide a URL – something special, or just your customers’ web site
  • Upload images – pretty simple – just JPEGs
  • Approve the ad
  • Repeat the above for each split
Honestly, it’s not that hard once you’ve done it a few times.  We’ve done it hundreds of times at SnailWorks – it’s what we do.  The hard part comes later when your customer wants to know how many of their pieces received emails – and how many were opened, and specifically who got them, and did they click, and on and on?  So you need to go BACK to the Business Customer Gateway (Ewww) and find the right campaign, request reports, and…wait.  It is not a quick, easy process.  Trust me – we do it every day. So it is something of a multi-process nuisance to do, though certainly not insurmountable.  Here’s the bigger question:  WHO in your organization is going to do this?  Your Project Managers?  Data Processors?  Do they generally have access to Gateway (Ewww)?  Creating these campaigns, and hunting for results later, is not really a data processing, or project management task.  So who creates these campaigns?   • Fill out a campaign form at www.D2DID.com
  • Upload your images
  • Our Project Managers will do all those other steps. As I said, it’s what we do
  • And, we’ll send reports on who did what
